I’m a single mother of 3. I applied for the rent relief program in Feb. In March I received an email saying they launched a new system and that I would have to reapply. I did as soon as I got the email. I received a confirmation email saying my application was successfully submitted. I waited patiently. In June I received a heart dropping email saying my application was denied. Ready to just give up. I checked my emails again and received one saying that they were sorry it was a glitch in the system and that the denial email was accidentally sent and to disregard it. I have some kind of hope again. My landlord was constantly threatening me with eviction. I had to continuously talk him into not considering eviction. I had to send him screen shots of when I talk to them and any new updates just to get him to back off a little.

I called hundreds of times to the program requesting for someone to call me back and nothing. A couple times someone did call me back just to tell me that they were going to send my application to escalations because no one had touched my application in months. My landlord is done being patient. I’m being sued for eviction. A day before my hearing I got a phone call from the owner of the place where I was living. This was the first time ever speaking to her she was nice and said that she was very upset with the realtor and for me not to have anything to do with him and if I needed anything to just contact her. She said don’t worry about anything I’m going to work with you. She said I’m not going to go through with the eviction.

I had court the next day for eviction and I didn’t go because the owner said she wasn’t going to go threw with the eviction. So because I didn’t show up for court the judge approved the eviction. I’m homeless now with my children. I called 211 got a list of numbers for assistance and nothing. I had to reach out to our Congress just to have someone from the program call me. I finally received a phone call from them yesterday telling me that they were sorry but because I’m now homeless they are unable to move forward with my application and they’re going to have to deny me any assistance. My children and I are now homeless living out of my compact car.
