On April 30th at 8:30 p.m., me and my landlord, where I resided in Supply for over a year, had an argument over the rent. I had been explaining since the last month that it’s getting really tough for me and I don’t want to wrap myself in debt, so maybe I should just go ahead and leave. And he said, “Don’t worry about it. We’ll figure things out. Everything’s going to work itself out.”

During the argument, the landlord made threats to unlawfully evict me, saying that he wasn’t waiting another couple months or something like that. I told him to do the right thing and file a proper eviction. He said, “No I’m not. I’m going to do everything in my power to get you out.”

That same evening, April 30th, I called the police because I feared for my safety with all the harassment, threats, and intimidation.

The next morning at 8:30 in the morning, I sent the landlord a demand letter: effective immediately, written communication only, and effective immediately, cease all harassment within the household.

Five and a half hours later, the same day I sent the demand letter, he filed a 50B domestic order against me. There was never a domestic incident. It was just an argument.

Court came up May 14th. The landlord stated that I spit on him several times, which I never did. He also stated to the judge, “I don’t charge anybody rent. I just like to help people out,” which I actually have proof otherwise, with six different texts of me talking about giving him the rent. So he lied under oath.

When I finally went up to testify, I had all my documentation and evidence—paper trails, pictures, everything. The judge blocked me from presenting my evidence to her and she granted him the order.

That same day, I had to get my stuff out of the house and it’s left me and my dogs displaced in the vehicle.

This has been a devastating situation. I want justice. I demand justice. I’ve done everything in my power to try to get a hold of news reporters, journalists, and everything else, and I feel like they’re not taking this seriously. And I’m not going to stop until I get justice.
