I was evicted from my home in Burnsville, MN, not because I didn’t have the money, but because the system blocked me from using it. First, BMO Bank placed an illegal hold on my inheritance check based ‘solely on the size,’ causing a manufactured default. When the funds were finally released, I offered the landlord the full rent amount to exercise my Right of Redemption.

The landlord’s attorney refused the payment, admitting on a recording that ‘My client does not want the money, they want possession’. Even though I filed a motion to stay the eviction, the Sheriff proceeded with the lockout despite admitting on body cam that he knew about the pending court motion.

My girlfriend, who suffers from PTSD, and I are now displaced because a landlord preferred eviction over payment. In the body cam footage, the Deputy admits, ‘I literally just looked up the court file,’ acknowledging my pending motion to stay the eviction before forcing us out anyway.
