My mother and I had gotten into a home here in Vegas with the help of a couple of local agencies. When we moved into the house, we had been homeless beforehand. After we got into the house, we realized we were moved into a fire hazardous home due to the fuse box wires all exposed. It would spark and smell really bad. On top of the fire hazard, we did not have a heating or cooling system at all. Our rent was $1,400 and the landlord kept trying to raise it without doing any repairs on the house. He raised our rent to $2,100 which the two of us really could not afford and he knew it.

The constable came to our house and locked my mother and myself out. During this time the agency that had helped us move in stopped helping us. My mom, at the time of our eviction, was 81 and had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. We were once again homeless. We stayed homeless until my mom passed away. I tried to get some of the agencies to help me, but I was unsuccessful. I stayed on top of finding a home but only found a room in a house occupied by drug dealers. The landlord only worries about getting paid. I am once again facing being homeless.
